While it may not look that way on the surface, there's actually quite a bit going on in the Belfast scene. Here we hope to provide a guide to every LGBT club and organisation in Belfast, as well as reviews etc. Hopefully over the summer we'll get a chance to do a full-on review of the Northern Irish queer scene and provide you with a little more information. For now, however, you'll just have to put up with whatever information we've managed to gleam off various websites...

If you have any more information (on other organisations, venues, what sort of music a venue plays, etc.) please contact us.

Bars and Clubs:

The Kremlin - Well known gay bar which was voted Best Gay Venue in Ireland by Big Buzz magazine, apparently.

HOWL - Alternative music queer club. This is a little gem of a club, run on the first and third friday of every month at the Pavillion on the Ormeau Road. If you like your music on the alternative side of the spectrum this is the place for you. It's pretty straight (and bi) friendly (two of the four women who run it are straight) so you can bring your hetero mates if you like and nobody will object to hetero make-out fests on the dance flo' (unlike a lot of gay venues). The word "queer" is left pretty open so you'll get a diverse range of different people who are into different things, which is cool.

Union Street Pub - This is a snazzy little gay bar tucked round the back of the Front Page (near the Kremlin and Belfast Telegraph offices). It's pretty modern, there's a nice atmosphere, great cocktails (happy hour = 6-8pm) and a mixed crowd (butch dykes, uber-glam L Word dykes, inbetweenie dykes, and all kinds of good looking men (oh the benefits of being bisexual)). Me and Kit were only there for about 15 mins but it seemed very nice, although from what I saw it tends to be 25+ in terms of age range.

Milk - This is a straight club most of the time but on Monday nights it goes queer for Forbidden Fruit.

Mynt (formerly Kube) - Another gay club (and restaurant). I would like to tell you more about it but I haven't been and the website keeps playing dance music, which I tend to avoid like the plague.
